Thomas Fielding, TM, was elected to the board of directors of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce for a two year term. He has also been co-chairman of the United Success Drive, which went over the top. . . . Alice Yeager was interviewed on the radio regarding the need for volunteer drivers for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Alice is secretary of the San Diego chapter. . . . Irene Mclnerny vacationed at home. . . . We were pleased to have George Hanson, pass. traffic mgr., at Executives' Secretaries Bosses' Night. He is affectionately known to the Executives' Secretaries as "Uncle George." . . . Faye Stirn of Long Beach Freight Office also attended Bosses' Night and took home one of the prizes. Faye is a member of the Long Beach chapter.

Cliff Livermore, chief clerk, spent Christmas holidays with son and family at Huntington Beach and daughter and family at Downey. . . . Tom Fielding, TM, and sisters drove to Pasadena to see the Tournament of Roses. . . . Barbara Burns and Cecil Walden, ticket clerks, were off sick a few days but are back on the job. . . . Pat Mottram, chief rate clerk, and wife visited relatives in Berkeley over the Christmas weekend. . . . Robert Holloway, truck driver, Store Dept., has been ill in Mercy Hospital. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery. . . . Your reporter's husband has a new cruiser, which she thinks he has appropriately named "Lost Wages."

Herman Kefel, CTA, and Mrs. Kefel attended Ladies' Night banquet of the Southern District Ticket Agents' Assn. at the Mona Lisa Restaurant, Los Angeles. Herman has been elected to the executive committee of the association. . . . San Diego is proud of Mary "Pat" Hastings, ticket clerk, who won the first monthly $10 award for the best sales technique on "How Can We Sell Extra Fare Service." , . . Congratulations to Carl Eichenlaub on his recent appointment as SD&AE superintendent succeeding S. A. Lamey, retired. ... A welcome to Rollin Roberts, our new trainmaster. . . . Office personnel in Freight Office treated Joe Lee, cashier, to ice cream and cake February 11, his last day on the job before leaving on vacation, and then retirement at the end of the month.

Chief Clerk Cliff Livermore, a dyed in the wool Padre fan, all set for the baseball season, has his weekend box seat reserved, as has Chf. Rate Clk. Pat Mottram. . . . Pat, our bowling enthusiast, recently organized a San Diego "700 Club" affiliated with the national 700 Clubs. After the charter was presented recently, the San Diegans defeated the Long Beach Club, score 2838 to 2700. Pat took his gang to Long Beach for a return match March 13, results unknown. . . . Tkt. Clk. Effie McGlocklin vacationed visiting relatives in Texas. . . . TPA Charles McGann and Mrs. McGann celebrated her birthday with a weekend in Las Vegas. ... File Clk. Estelle Young, Supt's Office, acted as model for Mrs. E. A. Peterson, wife of the roadmaster, while she took her state cosmetology examination in Hollywood.

SD&AE had Its first postwar Family Get-Together Meeting April 9, when 151 adults and 35 children filled the Superintendent's Office. P. D. Robinson, vice president and general manager; George B. Hanson, SP passenger traffic mgr.; James G. Shea, SP-PE public relations mgr.; V. F. Frizzell, SP freight traffic mgr., and LA Genl. Freight Agt. It. A. Houck, SP, were guests. Engine Foreman A. R. Van Booven was master of ceremonies, assisted by Jerry Green, asst. trainmaster. Supt. Carl Eichenlaub, our LA visitors and Chief Clerk C. D. Livermore, DF&PO, made short talks. Photographer Harley Talbot, LA Dup. Bur., showed "Snow on the Run" and "100 Years in Texas," followed by refreshments.Traffic Manager Tom Fielding attended the Western Cotton Shippers Assn. convention in Phoenix, to interest shippers in sending more cotton via SD&AE for export through the Port of San Diego. . . . Sympathy to Ticket Clerk Barbara Burns in the death of her aunt. . . . Tkt. Clk. Effie McGlocklin, worthy shepherdess of the Galilean White Shrine, has been elected worthy chaplain. . . . Asst. Trainmaster Jerry Green has been appointed to similar position with SP at Brawley.
